As the boys...I mean soldiers arrived, they checked in and received their dog tags, camouflage bandanna, medic bag and some much needed sunscreen.

Hyrum's Birthday Boot Camp
Since Hyrum recently did a report in school on being a soldier, we decided to have a soldier themed party to celebrate his sixth birthday. I've never done a party before and wasn't too excited about it at first; however, after finding some fun ideas on the internet, I was ready to host a boot camp for Hyrum and his friends. Here are some pictures of the big event.

The soldiers then lined up and learned a few drill commands which they used to play a game of "drill sergent says." They then became medics and rescued injured soldiers laying all over the grass (I forgot to take a picture of this activity).
Afterwards, the soldiers took turns trying to get the fasted time on the obstacle course. It was fun to see them cheer each other on as they raced through the course.
Water balloon grenade target practice was probably the soldiers' favorite part of boot camp. They were able to cool off a bit as water balloons "exploded" against the wall. The activities wrapped up with parachute landing practice as the soldiers launched army parachute men off the playset (once again I forgot to take a picture).
We topped the event off with ice cream and a cake decorated to look like a battle field.
